Finding Camp away from Holy Ground...
...after closing circle every year, we hear conversations of many of you wanting camp in the world. You can't have camp in the world. Camp is a special place that has nature, as only central Iowa could. Camp is a special place that has people there for a specific reason, as only Camp 16 does. Camp is a special place that has sights, sounds, smells, surroundings, and connections that can't be duplicated outside of there for a similar experience.
BUT...camp does provide another place for you on your spiritual journey to learn and grow. You are afforded counselors and staff who share with you their own experiences and how they have grown in their faith.
At camp we learn and grow...in the world we share what it was that we learned.
In the clip below, a now famous young man, was not afraid to share what he had learned. He didn't learn the information in that setting, but yet he felt confident enough to share it.
That is what our hope for you during the school year is...an opportunity to share and practice your faith. Camp is just one place on your journey to grow in faith. How are you practicing it away from camp? Did you go to Sunday School this past week? Did you help with another Sunday School class? Are you sharing your gift of music in the choir? Are you sharing your gift of technology with the church webmaster? How are you practicing? How are you sharing your faith?
Darkness doesn't exist. It is just the absence of light. Don't let you church family, your community, your friends be without the gifts you bring. You are a light for Christ!

Good Morning
Hello again, its Bailey.
How was my night you ask? Well I will tell you.
First, mommy took forever to take me outside to use the facilities. Then why I was trying to fall asleep, it sounded like angels from heaven singing outside - after lights out. I really think those boy campers were not following my lights out instructions and they were out tromping around the woods.
I sent Brent out to investigate it, but he was no help. He just said things were fine.
So then I fell asleep on Brent's feet and man does he kick. Early this morning I heard a noise above me - probably kids on the porch again, at least is wasn't 3:30 am again this morning. Well since I was awake, I made Laura take me out, but she didn't seem so happy.
Hope the campers don't get in trouble because Laura is kind of tired, but as my assistant she is supposed just do her job and smile. I'll just tell her to suck it up and smile today.
I must run, the campers are getting out of control and it is almost morning watch time.
Barks and Licks till later,
Bailey

Evening message from Bailey
Heya - it's cute little Bailey here!! You miss me? I know, I know, I'm great!!
I made my assistant Brent (I mean daddy) take me for a walk on a trail. There were lots of small houses, a whole bunch of trees (I mean a ton of trees) and one huge restroom (Oh I'm being told by Grandma Evalyn that it is a forest, not a bathroom!!!)
I heard voices through the "forest" and it was my other assistant (I mean Mommy!!) Laura. She handed my leash off to one of the campers who took me for a run - that was awesome. Her name was Sylvia.
Oh was that a rabbit, a squirrel, oh just a camper. Oh no that is a rabbit - here I go. So many animals to chase, here comes a camper to pet me, come here boy please come pet me . . .
Sorry, the animals and campers get kind of distracting while I am doing my job as "Director" Those assistants of mine are so demanding. I think it's about time for worship, that means I get to go take a nap in my kennel!!! Little does Brent know I am really sleeping his pillow when he is gone!!
